About Us
The Written Word® was begun by Leda Jean Ciraolo, Ph.D. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Ciraolo received her doctorate in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1992. Her areas of specialty included ancient religions, archaeology and social history. After teaching and publishing in her field, Dr. Ciraolo shifted her focus to the business world.
Recognizing the need for professional, friendly, one-on-one assistance with all phases of writing and editing, in 1994 she created The Written Word®. The goal of The Written Word® is to help all writers create the finest quality written documents possible.
Dr. Ciraolo currently teaches history, classics, and grammar at Bay Area colleges and universities, as well as online.
